World Wide Web Browser

by scientific-computing.info

Web sites are viewed by a computer program called a browser, for example Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. Browsers are mainly used to provide a window on the world wide web . The address or URL (uniform resource locator) of the web site or web page that you wish to see is placed in the address window. The web site then appears in the main window. The URL may be typed in the window or it is simply placed there by clicking on a link in the present web page.

Internet Explorer can also be used as an environment to create or edit web sites.
